Why Use Hand Tappers Instead of Eye Movements?
While EMDR originally used eye movements as the primary form of bilateral stimulation, some clients may prefer or benefit more from tactile (touch-based) or auditory (sound-based) BLS. Hand tappers are especially useful when:
- Clients have difficulty with or dislike following visual cues.
- Physical or neurological conditions make eye movements challenging.
- A more subtle or discreet form of BLS is desired (e.g., in virtual sessions or for comfort).
