People have always been at the heart of my work.
My journey began with a BA in Psychology and early experience working at a domestic violence shelter in Chicago. Originally from a small beach town in Michigan, I graduated from high school in New Jersey and attended Pennsylvania State University and Indiana University. These diverse cultural experiences have deeply enriched my perspective and inform the inclusive, empathetic approach I bring to my practice.
I’m a Licensed Independent Therapist based in Iowa, providing both in-person and online support to individuals and couples. Since earning my Master’s in Social Work from Indiana University in 1996, I’ve worked across a wide range of settings—including a residential facility for adolescents, a State’s Attorney’s Office as a Victim Advocate and Director of Child Protection Services, a hospital as a dialysis social worker, and as a college instructor teaching social work, psychology, criminal justice, and human sexuality. Throughout most of my career, I’ve also worked as an outpatient mental health therapist.
I specialize in treating Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Levels I and II. I also have extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I work with couples as well and have completed Level I and II training in the Gottman Method for Couples Therapy.
With every client, I strive to create a safe, affirming, and collaborative space where healing and growth can take place.
